75 Podcasts tells intriguing stories from the world of international human rights and criminal justice. Our two current podcasts are called Branch 251 and The Syria Trials.
The first episode of Branch 251 aired just five days after the start of the historic Al-Khatib trial, also known as the Koblenz trial. Fritz Streiff, a human rights lawyer working on Syria justice and accountability cases, recognised the significance of the trial, and the need for regular, easily accessible updates of the proceedings. Not just in English for an international audience, but more importantly in Arabic as well. By catering to both English and Arabic speakers, Branch 251 is not only able to reach a wider audience, but also the people who need to hear about the trial the most: Syrians. This story belongs to them.
With Branch 251, the podcast production company 75 Podcasts was born: A diverse and multilingual team of producers, writers, journalists, lawyers and hosts. After Branch 251, we went on to produce a new series, again in English and Arabic: The Syria Trials, which treats a similar topic, yet approaches it with a different style. In two 10-episode seasons, The Syria Trials tells the wider stories behind the challenges, frustrations and hopes that make up the jigsaw puzzle of justice and accountability efforts for Syria.
